Life is better with art!

AKA Chief Tea-Maker!

Chief tea maker is an odd title, I know, but in reality, it's a nod to the many roles I've embraced in the Aboriginal art scene over the years. Making tea for artists (with an insatiable thirst) was just one small part of my journey, but it's a memory that captures the sense of community I've cherished.

My path into Aboriginal art was unexpected. Sixteen years ago, I found myself transitioning from the polished floors of Sotheby's in Melbourne to the vibrant community of Fitzroy Crossing for a four-month locum position. That experience was transformative, drawing me back to the rich culture and art of the region and leading me to work at Mangkaja Arts in the Kimberley and Warlukurlangu Artists in the Central Desert for close to a decade. These years were filled with learning, growth, and a deepening appreciation for the art and stories of the Indigenous communities I worked with.

In 2015, I founded ART ARK® with the aim of offering an ethical and accessible channel for purchasing Aboriginal art. My experiences had shown me the need for a platform that not only celebrated the beauty of the artwork but also educated buyers and supported the artists in a fair and respectful manner.

in 2020, I moved back to my hometown of Launceston, Tasmania, bringing my passion for Aboriginal art and ART ARK with me. I am grateful to work in a field I love, combating exploitation and celebrating the incredible industry of Aboriginal art.

The path from auction rooms to remote communities has been deeply rewarding, and I'm grateful for the trust and knowledge that's been shared with me. In truth, I'm still learning every day.

Having worked for years in both remote communities and across the secondary and primary markets, I'm able to share this world with you from a unique perspective grounded in simple morals. I invite you to explore our site and join me in celebrating the incredible artists, art, and culture that ART ARK® shares.

I'm off for a cuppa!
